Bhooth Bangla Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar starrer Bhooth Bangla has finally arrived in cinemas with strong curiosity and high expectations. The horror-comedy also marks his reunion with director Priyadarshan after a long gap, which added extra buzz ahead of release. The film was released on April 17 and opened to mixed-to-positive reviews. While the start is decent, it has not managed to break into record territory.

Early box office numbers suggest a fair opening, but competition from recent horror-comedies remains strong.

Bhooth Bangla Box Office Collection Day 1

As per Sacnilk, Bhooth Bangla has collected around Rs 12.25 crore net on Day 1 so far. The film managed to sell nearly 1.3 lakh tickets on its opening day, showing steady audience interest.

Before release, the film also earned Rs 3.32 crore from advance bookings in India. In addition, it collected Rs 3.50 crore net from paid previews, which helped push early momentum.

With all numbers combined, the total India gross stands at approximately Rs 18.90 crore, while the net collection is around Rs 15.75 crore so far.

However, despite a stable start, Bhooth Bangla is not among the biggest horror-comedy openers in recent times.

Bhooth Bangla Lags Behind Major Box Office Competitors

In the horror-comedy space, Bhooth Bangla still has a long way to go. Films like Stree 2 (Rs 55 crore) and Thamma (Rs 24 crore) have set much higher opening benchmarks.

Interestingly, Bhooth Bangla has managed to cross the opening day figure of Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which stood at Rs 14.50 crore. However, the gap becomes wider when compared to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which earned a massive Rs 35 crore on Day 1 alone.

Even when combined with paid previews, Akshay Kumar’s latest release still trails behind Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 by a large margin. It also shows a similar opening range to his previous film Jolly LLB 3, indicating no major jump in opening strength.

About This Akshay Kumar Starrer

The film follows Arjun Acharya, played by Akshay Kumar, who inherits an old ancestral palace in Mangalpur. What seems like a simple solution for his sister’s wedding soon turns into a terrifying experience.

As Arjun moves into the palace, he faces strange supernatural events. The story unfolds across different timelines, including the present, the 1990s, and the 1950s. It also connects mythology and black magic themes inspired by ancient Indian texts.

The film features a strong cast including Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Mithila Palkar, Manoj Joshi, and Rajesh Sharma. Veteran actor Asrani also appears in a notable role.

With a runtime of around 164 minutes, the film went through slight trimming after certification. The reported budget is around Rs 120 crore, with a significant portion attributed to Akshay Kumar’s fee.

BIG Victory! Global Energy Shock, But Relief For India, Iran Restores Full Access Through Strait of Hormuz

strait-of-hormuz

The International energy market, which had been under tremendous stress just days ago, finally got some breathing space. In what can be considered an important geopolitical move, Iran has opened up the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important oil transit corridors in the world.

What Has Actually Taken Place?

In light of ongoing conflicts in the region and after several weeks of tension and war in the region, Iran announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping. This announcement was made against the backdrop of de-escalation measures taken following the ceasefire in the region. There were some disruptions in the region, resulting from increasing tensions among global players in the region.

Why Strait of Hormuz Is So Important

The Strait of Hormuz is not just any waterway. It is a global energy lifeline:

  • Around 20 percent of the world’s oil and gas supply passes through it
  • It connects the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea
  • Countries like India rely heavily on this route for crude oil imports.

When this route is disrupted, the impact is immediate, with rising oil prices, supply shortages, and global economic pressure.

Big Relief for India

For India, this development is nothing less than a major victory in terms of energy security.

  • India depends significantly on oil imports routed through this strait
  • Earlier disruptions had already caused concern over fuel supply and price rise
  • With the route reopening, supply stability is expected to improve immediately

This means reduced pressure on fuel prices, better supply flow, and more stability for the economy.

Impact on Global Oil Prices

The markets reacted instantly to the news:

  • Crude oil prices dropped by more than 10 percent after the reopening.
  • Investor confidence improved across global markets
  • Energy-related fears started cooling down

This shows how sensitive the global economy is to this single strategic route.

Akshay Kumar is back on the big screen with horror comedy Bhooth Bangla. The movie also marks his reunion with director Priyadarshan. Actress Wamiqa Gabbi plays the female lead opposite him, and their pairing has already grabbed attention on social media.

After the release, Wamiqa Gabbi started trending online. Some users compared her looks and screen presence to stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Katrina Kaif. This has led to a lot of discussion about her.

Akshay Kumar On Wamiqa Gabbi Being Compared To Aishwarya-Katrina

In a conversation on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Akshay Kumar was asked about these comparisons. He was questioned whether such social media talks are true or just exaggerated opinions.

Akshay responded by talking about Wamiqa’s journey and individuality. He said, “Nahi, uski aankhen brown hain. Uski Aishwarya jaisi aankhen hain. Lekin uski apni ek identity hai. Woh apne tareeke se kaam kar rahi hai. Woh bhi kaafi struggle ke baad films mein aayi hai. Pehle Punjabi films ki, phir Hindi films mein aayi. Ab woh Hindi, Telugu aur Tamil sab mein kaam kar rahi hai. Woh alag-alag genre ki films kar rahi hai.”

He feels Wamiqa should not be defined by comparisons. Instead, she should be seen for her own work and journey across different film industries.

In Bhooth Bangla, Akshay is seen romancing Wamiqa Gabbi. The actress is reportedly 26 years younger than him. This fresh pairing has also increased curiosity among audiences.

Akshay Kumar On Salman Khan’s Emotional Acting

In the same podcast, Akshay Kumar also spoke about Salman Khan’s emotional acting style. He praised the way Salman expresses emotions on screen, especially in crying scenes.

Akshay said, “Bahut kam log hote hain jo rote hue achhe lagte hain. Lekin Salman jab rota hai na, to mujhe ek do film mein dekha tha usse, aadmi ne… jab woh rota hai screen pe na, to actually dil ko lagta hai yaar is aadmi ko bahut dukh hua hai.”

He also recalled their film Jaan-E-Mann from 2006. He shared, “Maine ek film ki thi Jaan-E-Mann. Usmein woh roya. Humko maloom hai usmein woh roya tha aur mujhe lagta hai woh asli mein uska dard hai. Bahut-bahut pyara, bahut pyara.”

Bhooth Bangla Actor Praises On Dhurandhar

Akshay Kumar also talked about modern storytelling while mentioning Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh. He praised the film’s writing and research. He said the film was well-written and detailed, and showed real-life-inspired storytelling in a cinematic way. According to him, such films balance reality and entertainment well.

Meanwhile, Bhooth Bangla is still running in theatres and continues to attract audience interest. Looking ahead, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Welcome to the Jungle.

Women’s Reservation Bill Falls Flat in Lok Sabha, 5 Reasons Why Opposition Were Crying Foul

Women's- Reservation -Bill

Women’s Reservation Bill: On April 17, 2026, the Lok Sabha dealt a major blow to the long-awaited Women’s Reservation Bill, which would have set aside 33% of seats in Parliament and state assemblies for women. The bill got 298 votes in favour and 230 against, but it didn’t get the two-thirds majority it needed to change the Constitution. This shows how divided the country is politically.

Vote Shortage

The bill didn’t get enough votes to pass with a special majority, which shows that the ruling coalition couldn’t get broad support. Even though the numbers showed a lot of support, they weren’t enough according to constitutional norms, which stopped it from passing.

Linkage of Delimitation

One of the most controversial points was its connection to the proposed delimitation exercise. Opposition parties said that linking women’s reservations to the redrawing of constituencies after the census could give some areas, especially northern states, an unfair advantage. This made people worry about fairness and put off the start of the project.

Demands for sub-quotas

Several leaders of the opposition called for sub-quotas within the 33% reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs. They said that without these kinds of protections, the bill could leave out women who are already on the fringes. This demand became a big problem that kept everyone from agreeing.

Concerns of the Southern States

Leaders from southern states were worried that dividing up the government based on population would mean fewer representatives in parliament. Mallikarjun Kharge said that these kinds of changes could upset the balance of power in the federal government, making it harder for regional parties to work together.

Political Timing and Goals

Women’s Reservation Bill: Critics said the government pushed the bill through with the next elections in mind. In the meantime, Amit Shah defended the bill, saying that the opposition’s resistance was an “insult to Nari Shakti,” which made the political fight even worse.

Will Jacqueline Fernandez Become Approver In Rs 200 Cr Sukesh Chandrasekhar Money Laundering Case? Here’s How It Could Alter Her Legal Fate

Jacqueline Fernandez to turn approver in Sukesh Chandrasekhar Money Laundering Case

Housefull 5 actress Jacqueline Fernandez has taken a major legal step in the Rs 200 crore money laundering case linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. On Friday, she approached a Delhi court seeking permission to become an approver in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation.

If the court allows it, this move could significantly change her role in the case and may also impact her legal future.

Jacqueline Fernandez Approver Plea In Rs 200 Crore Case

The application was filed by Jacqueline Fernandez’s lawyer before special judge Prashant Sharma at the Patiala House Courts. After receiving the plea, the court issued a notice to the ED and asked for its response. The next hearing is scheduled for April 20.

Her legal team also told the court that a separate request had already been sent to the ED. This is an important development in the ongoing investigation.

If approved, Jacqueline would no longer remain only an accused. She would become a prosecution witness. This means she would have to share full details about the case and others involved.

In return, such cooperation may lead to leniency, which could include a pardon or a lighter punishment, depending on the court’s decision.

What The Move Means For Jacqueline Fernandez

At present, the case has not reached trial. It is still at the stage of arguments on charges, meaning formal charges are yet to be framed.

The ED case is based on a Delhi Police FIR from August 2021. It alleges that Sukesh Chandrasekhar and his associates cheated and extorted around Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivender Singh. He is accused of impersonating a senior government official to manipulate bail-related matters.

In its 2022 supplementary complaint, the ED named Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused. The agency claimed she received over ₹7 crore worth of luxury gifts linked to alleged proceeds of crime.

However, Jacqueline’s legal team has consistently said she had no knowledge of any criminal activity. They argue that she had no intention or awareness of the source of the gifts.

Investigators, on the other hand, claim the money was routed through shell companies and complex transactions. Some of it was allegedly used for luxury purchases, which later became part of the case evidence.

Background Of Sukesh Chandrasekhar Case

The case originally included eight accused, with Sukesh Chandrasekhar as the main accused and Pinky Irani acting as an intermediary. With Jacqueline’s name added, the total number of accused rose to nine.

She was granted bail in 2022 after the court noted that her knowledge or intent still needed to be examined.

Meanwhile, the investigation continues under the Delhi Police Special Cell under MCOCA provisions.

Sukesh Chandrasekhar himself is facing multiple cases across India and has reportedly secured bail in 27 out of 31 cases.

ED raids reflect BJP’s desperation to crush opposition voices: AAP Punjab

AAP Punjab

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab strongly condemned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) action at the premises of Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, calling it yet another example of the BJP-led Central Government’s blatant misuse of central agencies to intimidate opposition leaders and destabilise non-BJP governments.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, while addressing the media, called out the central government for “continuously strangling democracy.” He questioned the selective targeting by central agencies, stating, “Why are ED raids conducted only in those states where BJP is not in power? Those who raise their voice for people’s rights and work for public welfare are either served ED notices or sent to jail.”

The Punjab CM asserted that such tactics would not succeed in silencing democratic voices. “Democracy cannot be crushed through fear and pressure. From the revolutionary land of Punjab, I want to make it clear that wherever there is injustice, we will stand firm against it. This is not a fight of an individual, but a fight to protect our Constitution and the country, and this battle will continue,” he said.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora maintained a composed stance and reaffirmed his faith in due process. “As a responsible citizen, I will fully cooperate with the agencies and I am confident that the truth will prevail,” he said.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated, “BJP is misusing the ED to threaten governments in non-BJP states. Using ED to pressure opposition leaders has now become their political strategy to suppress every voice of dissent. This is extremely dangerous for our democratic traditions.” He further added that BJP’s politics is based on “intimidation, threats, and capturing power at any cost.”

On the other hand, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO echoed similar concerns, highlighting the timing of such actions. “Whenever elections approach, BJP suddenly remembers the ED and raids begin at the homes of opposition leaders. Whether it is Sanjeev Arora or MP Ashok Mittal, the target is always those who politically disagree with BJP. This is not investigation, but politics of vendetta,” he said. He warned that weaponising central agencies poses a serious threat to democracy, pushing the country towards authoritarianism.

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh termed the raid a “blatant abuse of agencies” aimed at crushing AAP Punjab. “Such tactics have always failed to destroy us. They only make us stronger. Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is the true national opposition and a real alternative to BJP,” he asserted.

AAP Punjab leaders unanimously stated that the people of the country are witnessing how central agencies are being misused to silence opposition voices. The party reaffirmed its commitment to stand firmly against what it described as “politics of fear and vendetta,” vowing to continue its fight to safeguard democracy and constitutional values.

Bhagwant Mann: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has sent the proposed Anti-Disrespect Act for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to the Governor for final approval. The step is aimed at strengthening legal protection against any act of disrespect towards the sacred scripture.

Purpose of the Proposed Law

The main objective of this proposed law is to prevent any deliberate act that insults, damages, or disrespects Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It focuses on creating strict legal provisions so that anyone found guilty of such actions faces strong punishment under the law. The government aims to ensure that religious sentiments are protected and such incidents are discouraged in the future.

Focus on Respect, Peace, and Social Harmony

The Punjab government has highlighted that this legislation is not only about punishment but also about maintaining peace and harmony in society. By safeguarding the dignity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Act aims to strengthen mutual respect among communities and reduce the chances of conflict or unrest caused by religious hurt or misunderstanding.

Next Step: Governor’s Approval

Bhagwant Mann: After being cleared by the state cabinet, the bill has now been sent to the Governor for final approval. Once the Governor gives assent, the Act will become law and will be implemented across Punjab with full legal authority.

Bhagwant Mann Targets Central Govt Over ED Actions, Calls It Attack on Constitution and Democracy, Check details

Bhagwant- Mann
Google

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has criticized the Central Government over recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions, calling them an attack on democracy and the Constitution. He alleged misuse of central agencies against opposition leaders. The Centre, however, has rejected these claims, stating that ED operates independently and follows legal procedures.

Political Storm Erupts Over ED Actions

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly criticized the Central Government over recent actions taken by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He alleged that the use of central agencies is being misused for political purposes and said it raises serious questions about democracy and constitutional values in India. His remarks have once again triggered a political debate between the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), especially on the issue of investigative agency independence.

Allegations of Misuse of Power

Bhagwant Mann claimed that repeated ED actions against opposition leaders are not just routine investigations but a pattern that looks politically motivated. According to him, such actions weaken democratic institutions and create fear among elected representatives. He stated that constitutional bodies must work independently and should not be influenced by political pressure.

Opposition Raises Concerns

AAP leaders have also supported Mann’s statement, saying that central agencies are being used to target opposition-ruled states and parties. They argue that selective investigations damage public trust in institutions meant to ensure fairness and justice.

Centre’s Stand on ED Actions

On the other hand, the Central Government maintains that the Enforcement Directorate is only acting based on evidence and legal procedures. It has repeatedly denied all allegations of political misuse, stating that law enforcement agencies operate independently.

Growing Centre–State Tensions

This controversy adds to the ongoing friction between opposition-ruled states and the Central Government. The debate over agency autonomy, federal structure, and political accountability continues to be a major issue in Indian politics.

All major roads in Attari constituency of Amritsar to be transformed, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann lays foundation stone

CM Mann

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday launched a sweeping development push in Amritsar’s Attari constituency, announcing ₹57.80 crore for the overhaul of 121 roads spanning 137 km, while asserting that areas long neglected despite their strategic location along the Pakistan border will now see focused investment, improved connectivity, and renewed economic activity.

Positioning the initiative alongside broader governance and border reforms, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab Government is simultaneously working to unlock lakhs of acres through border fencing realignment, eliminate the drug menace from its roots, and steer Punjab toward a decisive development mandate in 2027.

Addressing the gathering, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Punjab witnessed a black era before our government came to power when the drug trade ruled the roost in Punjab. Those who were in power misused their authority to bloom the drug trade in the state by patronising this menace. The vehicles of the state government were used to supply drugs from one part of the state to another during those black days.”

The Chief Minister said, “These leaders have sown thorns before Punjab and its younger generations by derailing the progress and prosperity of the state. The hands of these leaders are drenched with this crime against the state and history will never forgive them for backstabbing Punjab. These parties destroyed generations of the state by infusing drugs in their veins for which they can never be forgiven. It is ironic that those who are responsible for destroying Punjab with drugs are now making hollow claims to befool the people.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann added, “These governments never bothered about the state and people and had ruined the system due to which youth wanted to move abroad. The AAP Government made strenuous efforts to ensure that the menace of drugs was removed from the state. The scourge of drugs was a blot on the face of the state and it took more than two years for the AAP Government to chalk out a strategy for wiping out this curse.”

He said, “The AAP Government launched the ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ campaign as a part of which the supply line of drugs has been snapped and drug smugglers involved in this heinous crime have been put behind the bars. The curse of drugs is being wiped out at micro level with the active support and cooperation of the general public and this campaign has been transformed into a mass movement with the help of the common masses. The AAP Government has broken the backbone of drug trade by putting the big fishes involved in this heinous crime behind the bars and tightening the noose around the drug smugglers.”

Taking a jibe, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The real name of the Akali Dal’s so-called ‘Punjab Bachao Yatra’ is ‘Parivar Bachao Yatra’. After looting the state for 15 years, from whom are they trying to save Punjab? People had elected Akalis but they proved to be traitors and had always backstabbed the state and its people. When the entire farming community was fighting for their rights, the Akalis had supported the Modi Government on draconian farm laws just for saving their berth in the Union Ministry.”

He said, “Akalis had misused religion for their vested political interests due to which they cannot be forgiven by the people. The people will never forgive the Akalis for their sins and will teach them a befitting lesson again. People had elected Akalis time and again but they proved to be traitors and had always backstabbed the state and its people.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This pious land has produced saints, seers, martyrs, legendary players and generals but unfortunately under the patronisation of earlier governments the smugglers, gangsters and other criminals made this state their abode. Those responsible for the pyres of youth will be held accountable and they will have to pay for their sins. These leaders who ruined generations of the state will have to pay the price of their sins and the AAP Government will ensure that they get exemplary punishment for their misdeeds.”

He said, “Everyone knows that this family was a stooge of the Britishers and was conferred the title of Sir by them for hobnobbing against the patriots who fought for the country. The family had feted General Dyer, the perpetrator of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919, by hosting a dinner for him after this heinous incident. Such acts have always exposed their anti-national and anti-Punjab mindset and character.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann added, “Not only this, the family also ensured that General Dyer was bestowed siropa and forgiveness at Golden Temple. History cannot be wiped out and the dubious characters of Badal’s ancestors are etched on the pages of history. The hands of this family are drenched with the blood of the patriots and the role of these traitors in backstabbing the nationalists can never be forgotten.”

He said, “In the ensuing elections of the state assembly slated in 2027, people will have the option to select three pens. The first pen is Congress with red ink which symbolises the attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib, the riots of 1984 and other anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab stances. The second pen is of Akalis which has only one ink which has conducted desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. The third pen is that of AAP which is transforming Punjab into Rangla Punjab by taking path breaking initiatives every passing day.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The AAP Government has taken several pro-people initiatives in every sector due to which complete transformation has been witnessed. The tax money of people belongs to the state and it is being judiciously spent on the welfare of the people. People’s money is coming back to people through development, schools, hospitals and roads.”

He added, “The AAP Government has provided free electricity to 90% of households, government jobs to over 65,000 youth without corruption, improved roads, closed toll plazas saving ₹70 lakh daily, and is building infrastructure. When the AAP Government assumed office, only 22% canal water was being used for irrigation. Today, 71% canal water is being used and it will be enhanced to 90% by the coming paddy season.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna has been launched under which health cards are being issued to all 65 lakh families in Punjab. Every family is entitled to free treatment up to ₹10 lakh and over 30 lakh beneficiaries have already received health cards. Around 1.65 lakh people have received free treatment under this scheme and people must take maximum benefit of these cards.”

He said, “For the first time in the history of the state, more than eight hours of uninterrupted power has been supplied to farm tube wells during the paddy season. Farmers are now receiving electricity during the daytime for irrigation for the first time, which has transformed their lives.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann added, “Our Government is judiciously utilising every single penny of the state exchequer for the well-being of the people. Under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, ₹1000 per month is being given to other category women and ₹1500 to SC category women above 18 years.”

He said, “The AAP Government has embarked on a major programme for repair of link roads across the state. There are 43,000 kilometres of link roads in Punjab and a project has been launched for their repair and upgradation. Along with repair, their maintenance will also be carried out for the next five years.”

Reiterating, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The tax money of people belongs to the state and it is being spent on their welfare. The taxpayers’ money is coming back to people through development, schools, hospitals and roads. Though the AAP Government has fulfilled all its guarantees, efforts for further progress will continue. While on other political stages claims are made for grabbing power, from this stage we talk about education, health, power, agriculture and overall development.”

Highlighting relief for border farmers, he said, “Due to the concerted efforts of the AAP Government, the Government of India has ordered the shifting of fencing to within 300 metres of the international border, giving major relief to farmers. This will allow cultivation on lakhs of acres of land without restrictions.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann added, “Farmers in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Fazilka and Ferozepur will benefit immensely. SDMs have been directed to conduct surveys so that the 300-metre area can be properly demarcated for timely implementation of this decision.”

Ghaziabad News: Seamless Travel Between Shaheed Sthal And RRTS Station On The Cards! Would This Boost Metro Red Line Footfall?

Ghaziabad News

Ghaziabad News: A contract for installing a travelator on the footover bridge between Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) Metro Station on the Red Line of Delhi Metro and Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station has been awarded by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation.

The primary objective is to significantly enhance the movement of passengers at one of the most busiest and popular interchanges on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor.

Ghaziabad News-Latest Updates

Omega Elevators have received the letter of Acceptance (LoA) for a contract valued at ₹12.1 crore. The work revolves around providing travelators for facilitating a more convenient and direct connection between the metro station and the RRTS station.

The scope of work would include design, manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning and supply of travelators on the Footover Bridge between Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) Metro Station and Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station under the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor.

How Would This Boost Metro Red Line Footfall?

While the actual physical distance between the two stations is not enormous, the walking distance could be time-consuming and tiring at the same time, especially for elderly passengers, those with luggage or daily office-goers and students rushing against the clock. By reducing walking time and effort, the system will provide a smoother and more efficient interchange experience.

The travelator’s installation is likely to significantly reduce walking time while also easing congestion on the footover bridge, especially during peak hours. This would help in considerably enhancing the overall interchange experience for commuters.

By easing movement between the Red Line metro and the Namo Bharat corridor, the travelator is expected to eliminate a key friction point in the commuter journey. For those traveling between Ghaziabad, Delhi and Meerut, the improved connectivity could encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transport. Moreover, easing congestion at the interchange point can improve overall passenger satisfaction.

Under CM Bhagwant Mann, Punjab’s Friday Dengue Attack Begins – Health Minister Appeals to Public

Bhagwant- Mann
Google

Bhagwant Mann has spearheaded Punjab’s weekly campaign of “Har Shukarvaar Dengue Te Vaar” (Dengue Fights Every Friday) with the goal of reducing the spread of dengue prior to the arrival of monsoon, when mosquito-borne illness is highest. One aspect of the Punjab government’s overall health strategy is to achieve a dengue-free province by 2026. To achieve this, the Punjab Government is increasing its level of preparedness and surveillance on the ground level.

Health Minister’s Strong Appeal to the Public

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has urged citizens to take part in this campaign. He emphasized that preventing dengue is not only the government’s job; it also needs community involvement. The minister called on schools, families, and local communities to find and remove places where mosquitoes breed, such as stagnant water in coolers, flower pots, and tanks.

Why This Campaign Matters Now

Recent data shows that dengue cases in Punjab have dropped significantly. They fell from over 23,000 cases in 2021 to around 5,000 in 2025. Deaths have also decreased sharply. However, a new concern has emerged. Dengue is now spreading more in rural areas, not just in cities. This makes awareness and early prevention even more important.

What People Should Do

To stay safe from dengue, people should:

  • Avoid water stagnation around homes
  • Use mosquito repellents and nets
  • Keep surroundings clean
  • Report symptoms like fever, headache, or body pain early

A Collective Fight Against Dengue

Bhagwant Mann: The Punjab government is improving testing facilities, providing free diagnostics, and expanding healthcare access. However, the success of this campaign relies heavily on public cooperation. With weekly actions and community awareness, Punjab aims to lower dengue cases and save lives in 2026.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Cabinet clears citizen-led desilting policy to boost flood preparedness ahead of monsoon

Punjab news

Punjab Cabinet, led by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, has cleared a citizen-focused policy allowing landowners to undertake desilting of rivers, choes and drains at their own cost, with the right to use excavated material free of charge, in a move aimed at strengthening flood preparedness ahead of the monsoon while improving river flow across critical stretches.

Disclosing this, Chief Minister’s Office stated: “A major citizen centric decision has been taken by the Punjab Cabinet led by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann to approve allowing landowners to undertake desilting of rivers/choes/drains including River Sutlej, River Beas and River Siswan. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.”

Landowners allowed to desilt rivers, choes and drains at own cost, use excavated material free of charge

The Cabinet has also given approval to a policy for permitting concerned landowners to undertake desilting of rivers /choes / drains including River Sutlej, River Beas and River Siswan at their own cost and to utilize the excavated material free of cost for their own use.” The spokesperson further noted that the initiative will facilitate expeditious desilting of critical reaches, enhance the carrying capacity of rivers/choes and significantly reduce the risk of floods, thereby safeguarding public and private property.

The Punjab Government has identified nine critical sites where desilting is required to ensure smooth flow of water in view of the upcoming monsoon season. Non-execution of desilting at these sites could lead to accumulation of silt, reduced carrying capacity of rivers/choes and increased flood risk during the ensuing monsoon, besides continued non-utilization of excavated material.

To ensure timely desilting before the monsoon season 2026–27 and to address non-responsive sites, it has been decided to permit concerned landowners to undertake desilting at their own cost, with free utilization of excavated material for their own use. This will facilitate expeditious execution of desilting works while reducing potential flood risks and associated liabilities.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Cabinet Gives nod to amend Rule 6 of Punjab Reservation for office of Sarpanches of Gram Panchayat / Chairman / Vice Chairman of Zila Parishad & Panchayat Samiti

In another key decision, the Cabinet also approved an amendment to Rule 6 of the Punjab Reservation for the Offices of Sarpanches of Gram Panchayats and Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishads Rules, 1994, aimed at rationalizing representation across categories.

The move is aimed to rationalize the representation to each category for reservation of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Castes Women, Women and General category. It stipulates that in case 10% or more of the total number of Zila Parishads in the State are affected, the roster for rotation of the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Caste Women, Women and General Categories shall be prepared afresh.

Uttar Pradesh News: The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department is all set to implement an automated e-detection system to strengthen the enforcement of stringent traffic guidelines via technology. Developed under the framework of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the system would be helpful to identifying vehicles automatically that operate without valid documents. Thereafter, e-challans could be issued to such vehicles’ owners without any form of manual intervention.

This initiative by the UP government is designed to enhance compliance, improve road safety and make enforcement more transparent and faster, especially on high-traffic national highways.

Uttar Pradesh News-Latest Updates

NIC Lucknow has been instructed by the UP transport department to launch the module as a pilot project at Barabanki-Ahmedpur Toll Plaza and Itaunja Toll Plaza. Once successful trials are completed, the system would then be expanded across the state in different phases so more highway corridors and toll plazas get covered.

How Does The System Works?

High-resolution cameras are installed to scan FASTag details and number plates of vehicles in real-time by the system. The data then gets cross-checked instantly with different national databases like VAHAN for verifying the validity of vehicles’ documents.

An e-challan gets generated automatically if the vehicle is found to be operating with missing or expired PUCC, insurance, fitness certificate, registration or permit. The e-challan is directly sent to the registered mobile number of the vehicle owner.

In the first phase, the automated e-detection system would verify insurance validity, pollution certificates, registration documents, high security registration plates and fitness certificates. Checks for non-transport vehicles would include PUCC, HSRP compliance, declared non-usage status and registration validity where applicable.

The system would help in taming the lawless roads of the state of Uttar Pradesh where vehicle owners often vehemently ignore or bypass traffic rules. This would also help in curbing down the incidents of reckless driving, over-speeding, wrong side driving and blatant signal jumping.

What if reducing your cancer risk after 60 had nothing to do with expensive medicines or complicated treatments? What if the most powerful solution was something simple, free and already within your control? A doctor’s recent video grabbed attention for revealing exactly that—and the science behind it is hard to ignore.

In a YouTube video, oncologist Dr. Favor Adeyemi shared insights from over two decades of experience. She explained that while cancer is complex, there is one daily habit strongly linked to lowering cancer risk across multiple studies.

Cancer Risk And The Simple Habit Most People Ignore

According to the doctor, the habit is not intense workouts or extreme fitness routines. Instead, it is consistent, moderate physical activity—something as simple as a daily brisk walk.

She explained that after the age of 60, the body’s natural defence system begins to slow down. This includes:

  • DNA repair systems that fix cell damage
  • Immune cells that destroy abnormal cells
  • A natural process that removes damaged cells

When these systems weaken, cancer risk increases. However, regular movement helps activate all three systems at once.

The doctor highlighted that just 20–30 minutes of moderate activity, like walking, cycling or swimming, can make a real difference. This is not about pushing your limits, but staying consistent.

She also warned against a common mistake—going too hard, too fast. High-intensity workouts can sometimes reduce immune function temporarily, while moderate exercise keeps it stable and active.

How This Habit Helps Lower It

The science behind this simple habit is strong. Research shows that regular physical activity can reduce the risk of several cancers.

Here’s how it works:

  • Improves DNA repair
Exercise boosts enzymes that fix damaged cells before they turn cancerous
  • Strengthens immune defence
It increases natural killer cells that attack abnormal cells
  • Reduces inflammation
Lower inflammation creates an environment where cancer is less likely to grow

As per studies published in leading medical journals, people who stay physically active have a significantly lower cancer risk, with reductions ranging from 10% to even 40%, depending on the cancer type.

The doctor also shared a real-life example of a patient who followed this routine for six months. The results showed improved health markers and reduced risk factors, proving how small daily changes can lead to big outcomes.

Lowering your cancer risk does not always require drastic steps. Sometimes, it is about simple, consistent habits. A daily 20-minute walk may seem small, but over time, it can help your body fight back more effectively.

The key is consistency. Start small, stay regular and let your body do what it was designed to do—protect you.
