Amrit Bharat Express: Narendra Modi To Inaugurate Banaras-Pune And Ayodhya-Mumbai Trains! Would This Supercharge Religious Tourism And Industrial Hubs?

Amrit Bharat Express trains, which have been introduced for low- and middle-income groups, are fully non-AC and include General and Sleeper class coaches, along with Divyangjan-friendly and pantry facilities.

Amrit Bharat Express: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would flag off two weekly Amrit Bharat Express Trains linking Ayodhya with Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus) and Banaras (Varanasi) with Pune (Hadapsar) on April 28, 2026. The launch of these two trains is expected to improve direct travel between western economic centres and major spiritual destinations of the country.

Amrit Bharat Express-Boost To Religious Tourism

Varanasi is home to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, Durga Kund Temple and Kaal Bhairav Mandir. On the other hand, prominent places of worship in Mumbai include the Siddhivinayak Temple, Haji Ali Dargah, Mahalaxmi Temple and ISKCON Temple.

Pune is home to prominent places of worship such as Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir, Omkareshwar Temple, Kasba Ganpati Temple, Chaturshringi Temple, Pataleshwar Cave Temple and Shri Mahalaxmi Mandir.

The launch of Banaras-Pune and Ayodhya-Mumbai trains would make long-distance journeys more accessible, affordable and efficient for devotees and other passengers.

Routes And Stations

The Banaras–Pune Amrit Bharat Express would have 20 stoppages including Banaras, Gyanpur Road, Prayagraj Junction, Fatehpur, Govindpuri, Orai, Jansi, Bina, Rani Kamalapati and Narmadapuram. The remaining stoppages include Itarsi, Harda, Khandwa, Bhusaval, Jalgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahilyanagar, Daund Chord Line and Hadapsar.

The Ayodhya–Mumbai Amrit Bharat Express would have 14 stoppages including Ayodhya Dham Jn, Sultanpur Jn, Pratapgarh Jn, Prayagraj Jn, Manikpur Jn, Satna and Jabalpur. The remaining stoppages include Itarsi Jn, Bhusaval Jn, Jalgaon, Nashik Road, Kalyan Jn, Thane and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.

Impact On Economic Growth And Industries

The trains would connect important regions and cities in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, boosting business travel, tourism, overall economic development and the movement of people and goods between these states.

The trains would also benefit migrant workers, students and daily passengers by delivering direct, low-cost, safe and secure travel options. Amrit Bharat Express trains, which have been introduced for low- and middle-income groups, are fully non-AC and include General and Sleeper class coaches, along with Divyangjan-friendly and pantry facilities. These trains are fully equipped with out-of-the-box and advanced safety features like emergency talk-back systems, sealed gangways, fire suppression mechanisms and CCTV surveillance.
