On the occasion of the Kanwar Yatra in Bareilly city, a gruesome event occurred late on Saturday night when a group of young people, in a car, attempted to defy one-way traffic regulations. Around 11:30 PM, the enforcement team, which included Home Guard Ajit Kumar, was on duty at Chaupla Crossing.

The driver instead accelerated when Ajit Kumar turned the car towards a stop. The home guard leaped onto the bonnet to save himself. The vehicle never stopped; it pulled him through heavy traffic of over 4 KM passing Chini Mill, 84 Ghanta Mandir, Postmortem House Road, Kotwali Road, and Mission Compound.
Chase Through City, Police Vehicle Also Hit
A speeding car crashed into a police car that was following the accused. The defendant kept making dangerous drives. Not far away, at the Mission Compound, the guard was able to get off the moving vehicle and finally salvage his life.
Bareilly Viral Video Prompts CCTV Investigation
The news brought chaos within the Bareilly police department. Kotwali, Baradari, and traffic police teams went on a search throughout the city. The Integrated Command and Control Centre is searching CCTV footage in the area and street cameras along the route to track the vehicle and the suspects.
