Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated Punjab rower Satnam Singh and his teammate Salman Khan after the duo won the bronze medal in the men’s double sculls at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Mann announced that Satnam Singh will be honoured with a ₹50 lakh cash reward under the Punjab government’s sports policy for his medal-winning performance. He also congratulated both athletes and their families on the achievement.
Satnam Singh and Salman Khan Win Rowing Bronze: Bhagwant Mann
Satnam Singh and Salman Khan secured the bronze medal in the men’s double sculls with a time of 6:13.25 at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course on Thursday.
The Indian pair remained in medal contention throughout the race and finished behind China’s Yi Xudi and Yide Nie, who won gold, and Uzbekistan’s Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov, who took silver.
The medal is significant for Indian rowing as it is the country’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the men’s double sculls event.
Satnam Singh to Receive ₹50 Lakh
Following the achievement, Bhagwant Mann said Satnam Singh would receive ₹50 lakh under Punjab’s state sports policy.
The announcement was made in a congratulatory message in which Mann praised the performance of the two rowers and said their achievement had brought recognition to Punjab and the country. The reward announcement was also reported by Amar Ujala.
Satnam Adds Second Asian Games Medal
The 2026 bronze is Satnam Singh’s second Asian Games medal. He was previously part of India’s men’s quadruple sculls team that won bronze at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
