Punjab Police continued its statewide crackdown on narcotics trafficking under the ongoing Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign, arresting 83 alleged drug smugglers during operations conducted across various parts of the state. The action forms part of the government’s sustained efforts to dismantle drug networks and curb the circulation of illegal substances in Punjab.

During the latest operations, police teams recovered approximately 3.7 kilograms of heroin, 70 kilograms of poppy husk, 446 intoxicant pills, and ₹2,500 in suspected drug money. Officials stated that the recoveries were made during coordinated raids and enforcement activities targeting individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking.

Intelligence-based operations and continuous monitoring are being carried out to strengthen enforcement efforts.
In addition to taking legal action against alleged offenders, authorities continued their rehabilitation-oriented approach by counselling 14 individuals and encouraging them to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment. Police officials emphasized that addressing substance abuse requires both strict enforcement against traffickers and support for those seeking recovery from addiction.
The Punjab government has maintained that the Yudh Nashian Virudh initiative is a key component of its strategy to create a drug-free society. Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to continuing the campaign and working towards a safer and healthier Punjab through enforcement, awareness, and rehabilitation measures.
