Bhagwant Mann Government in ‘Action Mode’ to Tackle Flood Situation in Punjab

The government has assured that all necessary aid will reach victims without delay.

The Punjab government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has moved into “action mode” to deal with the ongoing flood situation in the state. Several cabinet ministers and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs have been deployed to oversee relief and rescue operations in flood-affected regions, ensuring that immediate assistance reaches the people in need.

According to the official update by AAP Punjab, cabinet ministers and local legislators are personally visiting vulnerable areas, assessing the situation on the ground, and monitoring the pace of relief measures.

Ministers on Ground to Supervise Relief Work

Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, along with Tarn Taran MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura, is scheduled to review the rescue and rehabilitation work in the flood-affected villages of Tarn Taran district. Their visit aims to ensure that relief material such as food packets, medicines, and drinking water is being delivered promptly to the affected families.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal will tour the flood-hit areas of Pathankot, one of the worst-affected districts due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging. His visit is expected to focus on both immediate relief distribution and long-term strategies to minimize damage to crops, homes, and public infrastructure.

Government’s Preparedness

The Mann government has directed the state machinery to stay alert and responsive, particularly in vulnerable districts prone to water overflow from rivers and canals. Emergency teams, including health workers and disaster response units, have been stationed to provide round-the-clock assistance.

Officials also highlighted that the government is coordinating with local administrations to speed up evacuation from low-lying areas while ensuring that relief camps are equipped with essential supplies.

Public Reassurance

The AAP government reiterated that it is fully committed to standing with the people during this crisis. By putting ministers and MLAs directly in charge of field visits, the government aims to send a clear message that relief efforts are not limited to announcements but are being executed on the ground.
