Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Police continued its statewide crackdown on narcotics under the ongoing “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, arresting 44 alleged drug smugglers during coordinated raids across multiple districts. Officials said law-enforcement teams seized 20.7 kg of heroin, 210 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and ₹2.28 lakh suspected drug money during the latest operation.

According to police data, the sustained campaign has now led to a cumulative 49,674 arrests in 351 days, highlighting the scale of enforcement measures undertaken to curb drug trafficking in the state. Authorities stated that the action was part of a broader strategy combining intelligence-based raids, surveillance, and inter-district coordination to dismantle supply networks.

In addition to enforcement, officials said 19 individuals were counselled and encouraged to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation, reflecting the administration’s parallel focus on treatment and recovery alongside policing. The state government has repeatedly emphasized that tackling substance abuse requires both strict legal action against traffickers and sustained support systems for those struggling with addiction.
Police sources added that such operations will continue regularly, with intensified monitoring of vulnerable zones and transport routes to prevent the movement of contraband. Senior officials reiterated that the anti-drug campaign remains a top priority for the administration as part of its broader law-and-order and public health strategy.
