Chhath Puja 2023: The calendar states that the Chhath celebration falls on Kartik Shukla Paksha's Shashti Tithi. However, the fast is broken on Saptami Tithi, and the celebration begins with bathing and eating on Chaturthi Tithi. The main celebration of folk faith, Mahaparv Chhath, takes place over four days.

Countdown to Chhath Festival

With just a few days till the start of the Chhath festival, everyone is getting ready for the Chhath Puja, and songs honouring Surya Dev and Chhath Maiya are being performed in every home. Let us inform you that Usha, Nature, Water, Air, and Shashthi Mata, the sister of the Sun God, are the honorees of this magnificent four-day event. The custom of giving Arghya to the Sun God is one such custom that dates back many millennia. People still celebrate it with great fervour and dedication nowadays. It is known as the Great Festival of Folk Faith for this reason.

Chhath Festival Duration

Chhath festival lasts for four days and the devotees keep a waterless fast for 36 hours. Therefore, Chhath fast is considered one of the difficult fasts. This year Chhath festival is starting from 17th November 2023. On this day, Vrati will start the Chhath festival with Nahay-Khay. Chhath festival will end on 20th November with Usha Arghya and Paran. Chhath fast is observed to pray for the long life of the married couple, happy life of their children and happiness and prosperity at home.
