In a significant blow to organised crime, Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested two most-wanted operatives of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang from the Patiala–Ambala Highway near Village Shambhu.

According to preliminary investigations, the duo had fled to Nepal after committing a murder and later returned to India on the instructions of foreign-based handlers to carry out another high-profile crime in Punjab.
Police sources revealed that both accused have a long criminal history, with over 15 serious cases registered against them across Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. These include charges under multiple criminal Acts. The men were also wanted in connection with the recent murder of Bharat Ratan, also known as Vicky, in Fazilka.

During the operation, police recovered a Glock 9mm pistol along with six live cartridges from their possession. An FIR has been registered at the State Crime Police Station, SAS Nagar.
DGP Punjab reiterated that the force remains committed to dismantling organised crime networks and ensuring the safety of citizens by preventing such criminals from operating in the state.
Police officials said further investigations are underway to uncover the extent of the gang’s activities and identify other associates involved in cross-border and interstate crimes.
