Under the programme, 45 electric buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will begin services connecting Noida, Greater Noida, and the Jewar International Airport region. The initiative also includes the inauguration of the Noida Electric Bus Depot, aimed at supporting the operation and maintenance of the growing electric vehicle fleet.
Electric Bus Services to Strengthen Green Public Transport
According to the state government, the fully air-conditioned buses will provide commuters with a safe, comfortable, and environmentally friendly mode of transportation while reducing dependence on conventional fuel-powered vehicles. Officials stated that the project is expected to benefit thousands of daily passengers travelling across the rapidly developing Gautam Buddha Nagar region.
Authorities highlighted that the electric buses produce zero tailpipe emissions, contributing to cleaner air and supporting the state’s broader environmental goals. The development of charging infrastructure and dedicated electric bus depots is also expected to strengthen the region’s green transportation ecosystem.
The government has outlined plans to expand the electric bus network in phases, with the number of buses expected to increase significantly in the future. Officials said the initiative aligns with efforts to promote sustainable urban development, improve connectivity, and reduce carbon emissions.
The launch forms part of Uttar Pradesh’s wider focus on modern infrastructure, smart mobility solutions, and environmentally responsible development. The state government maintains that investments in clean transportation will help create more efficient, accessible, and sustainable cities while supporting long-term economic growth.
