Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr Balbir Singh announced that the state government would resume the Bhagwant Mann Samman Rashi initiative for women from November 1, describing it as a step towards strengthening their financial independence and confidence.

In a post on social media platform X, Dr Balbir Singh said the initiative would be restarted under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He highlighted the government’s focus on empowering women and providing them with greater financial support.
The minister said the move was aimed at making women more economically independent and strengthening their self-confidence. He added that recognising and respecting women’s contributions was an important part of public service.
Dr Balbir Singh emphasised that financial assistance can help women gain greater control over their economic decisions and meet their personal and household needs. He described the initiative as an effort to strengthen the position of women in society.
The announcement comes as the Punjab government highlights women’s welfare and empowerment as important areas of its policy agenda. The Samman Rashi initiative is being presented by the government as a measure to provide direct financial support to women.
