Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his birth anniversary and also extended greetings to people on the occasion of Dussehra.

Remembering Gandhi’s life and philosophy, Mann said that Gandhi’s faith in truth, non-violence and simplicity inspired millions across the globe. “ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਯੰਤੀ ਮੌਕੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਸੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਅਹਿੰਸਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿਣਗੀਆਂ,” he posted on social media.

On the festival of Dussehra, the Chief Minister said the day symbolises the victory of good over evil and carries an important message of moral courage, righteousness, and collective unity. “On this auspicious day, let us all take inspiration from the life of Lord Rama and pledge to end social evils and spread positivity around us,” he said, urging people to celebrate with peace and harmony.
Mann underlined that just as Dussehra teaches the lesson of defeating negativity, the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi remind the nation to remain steadfast in truth, equality, and justice. He expressed confidence that these festivals will strengthen social unity and guide Punjab and the nation on the path of progress.
Both messages by Bhagwant Mann—on Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra—highlighted his call for truth, non-violence, and communal harmony as guiding forces for the people.
