Ghaziabad News: Heavy Rain Triggers Drain Damage, Flooding Roads and High-Rises in Ghaziabad’s Crossings Republik

It rained hard during the night of July 30–31 in Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad. A major drain near NH-9 partially collapsed and overflowed. The broken drain caused a lot of waterlogging, which made it hard to drive and live in nearby apartment buildings. Several places along the drain\’s edge caved in, which made people very worried about the safety of the high-rise buildings nearby.

Flooding submerges roads and the basements of homes

Damage to the drains caused floods on nearby roads and in the basements of several high-rise buildings, such as Prateek Grand and Sushant Akupolis. The vehicles that were parked in these garages were flooded and badly damaged. 8 to 10 feet of water had soaked into the basements, which caused lifts to stop working, power cuts, and problems with the water supply, making life even more difficult for the people who lived there.

People Are Trapped Because of Service Outages

About 200 people who lived in four towers of Sushant Akupolis were stuck on the upper floors for more than 24 hours because important services were not working. People were angry that local governments and social groups were taking too long to respond and not doing enough to maintain things.

The infrastructure Collapse at the Project Site That Was Dug Up

The area that was dug up near Crossings Republik had drainage problems and also caved in because of rainwater runoff, making a 15- to 20-foot-deep pit. Three cars and a two-wheeler fell into this pit by accident. This shows how dangerous it is to leave unfinished building work unattended during the monsoon season.

Monsoon Problems and the Need for Better Drainage Planning

Flooding and backflowing drainage are made worse by trash, tree trimmings, and people moving into rural areas that block drainage systems. Even though city workers put out pump sets and worked all night, locals say the current steps are not enough and want a full, long-term plan for managing Ghaziabad\’s drainage to stop similar problems from happening again in the future monsoons.

Civic Administration\’s Work and Calls from Residents

Officials said that the flooding had improved by noon after a lot of work, but residents are still complaining about frequent sewage problems and poor maintenance of infrastructure. They want the government to move quickly to protect people and property during heavy rains, stressing the need for better planning and upkeep.
