Good News for Rail Passengers! IRCTC Partners with Swiggy to Deliver Food on Train, Check

Through IRCTC's online ordering platform, pre-ordered meals will now be supplied and delivered by Swiggy.

Swiggy: To provide tasty meals to train passengers, Indian Railways and the well-known food delivery company Swiggy are collaborating. Travellers utilising the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation’s (IRCTC) e-catering platform will be able to purchase meals in advance from Swiggy thanks to a partnership with IRCTC.

IRCTC partners with Swiggy

Swiggy has teamed with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to deliver meals that passengers have pre-ordered using the company’s online ordering system. In the first phase, Swiggy will serve IRCTC patrons at four railway stations: Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, and Vijayawada.
When the first phase is finished, the services will be extended to further stations.

By providing easy meal options for train travel, this project aims to improve the overall experience for passengers. IRCTC hopes to make travelling using its e-catering platform easier by collaborating with Swiggy to order and deliver meals.

IRCTC and meal delivery services have worked together previously. It collaborated with Zomato in October of last year to provide comparable pre-ordered meal delivery services at a number of train stations, including those in New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi.

What did IRCTC say?

“The IRCTC has tied up with Bundl Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Swiggy Foods) for supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals through IRCTC e-catering portal as a PoC (proof of concept) in the first phase at four railway stations — Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam,” IRCTC said in a statement.
