Happy birthday CR7, superstar of football

Cristiano Ronaldo Dos Santos Aveiro was born in Funchal, Portugal on 5th of February 1985. The superstar of football has had an illustrious career for various teams and is still going as strong as ever.

Rinaldo’s father, José Dinis Aveiro, was the equipment manager for the local club Andorinha. (The name Ronaldo was added to Cristiano’s name in honour of his father’s favourite movie actor, Ronald Reagan, who was U.S. president at the time of Cristiano’s birth.

At age 15 Ronaldo was diagnosed with a heart condition that necessitated surgery, but he was sidelined only briefly and made a full recovery. He first played for Clube Desportivo Nacional of Madeira and then transferred to Sporting Clube de Portugal (known as Sporting Lisbon), where he played for that club’s various youth teams before making his debut.

Ronaldo made his debut for Sporting CP in the Primeira Liga against Moreirense on 7 October 2002. He scored a brace with Sporting winning 3-0. He made 25 appearances and scored five goals for the club in the 2002-2003 season.

Representing Portugal, Ronaldo has played a major role in bringing home European Championship and 2019 UEFA National League. He began his professional career with Sporting CP before moving to the world renowned club Manchester United in 2003.

He also recorded the most number of goals (17) in a single edition of the Champions League. as well as most goals scored in a UEFA Champions League season (17). He has registered 722 goals for club and country combined.

Ronaldo is also the first player to win four European Golden Shoes. He first made headlines in 2003 after Manchester United signed him on. He received the highest amount for a teenager at that point in time.

During his free time, Cristiano enjoys cooking. He mentioned in an interview that he usually cooks before he leaves for his soccer practice. Because he is constantly training, Cristiano rarely has time to watch TV. If he does get the time to watch, he says he loves watching one of the local Portuguese game show which is mostly about trivia questions. Cristiano is an avid learner and he takes interest in learning new things everyday. Among Cristiano’s biggest pet peeves are smoking, people who don’t make an effort and dishonesty.

Ronaldo has made contributions to various charitable causes throughout his career. Television footage of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami showed an eight-year-old boy survivor named Martunis wearing a Portuguese football shirt who was stranded for 19 days after his family was killed. Following this, Ronaldo visited Aceh, Indonesia, to raise funds for rehabilitation and reconstruction
