Khushbu Sundar: Actor turned Politician reveals she was sexually abused by father during her childhood, details here

Khushbu Sundar: During a recent "We The Women" town hall organized by Mojo Story in Jaipur, actor and National Commission for Women (NCW) member Khushbu Sundar opened up about being sexually abused by her father at the age of eight. Sundar described the experience as the "toughest" thing she has ever had to go through. She also shared that when she was 15, she began to rebel against her father, which led him to abandon the family.

What did Khushbu Sundar say?

She stated, "The toughest thing which took me long, not to forget, not to forgive but put it behind me and move forward was the abuse I faced as a child by my father. When a child is abused it scars the child for life."

In addition to sharing her own story of childhood sexual abuse, actor and NCW member Khushbu Sundar recently spoke out about the abusive marriage her mother endured at the hands of Sundar's father. According to Sundar, her father was a violent man who regularly beat his wife and children and sexually abused his daughter, believing it was his right as a man.

She also stated that many would not belive her, "One fear that stayed with me was my mom may not believe me because I have seen her in that environment where there was ‘kuch bhi hojaye mera pati devata hai (no matter what happens, my husband is my God)’ mindset. But at 15 I thought that it was enough and I started revolting against him. I was not even 16 and he left us with whatever we had and we didn’t know where the next meal will come from.”

Khusbhu Sundar Political career

Khushbu Sundar, is known for her work as an actor, film producer, and television anchor. She began her political career with the DMK party before later becoming a spokesperson for the Congress party. Sundar eventually switched to the BJP and ran as a candidate in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, but was unsuccessful in defeating DMK's N Ezhilan.
