Pallavi Dharamshala Ragging Case: The heart-wrenching viral video of Pallavi, a second-year-student at a government college in Dharamshala, has sparked massive outrage in the country.
What’s the latest on the Pallavi Dharamshala Ragging Case?
Himachal Pradesh has registered a case against Ashok Kumar, a college professor, and three female students (Harshita, Aakriti and Komolika) on allegations of sexual misconduct, ragging and physical assault. As per Vikram Kumar, the father of the deceased girl, alleged that the three girls had physically assaulted and harassed his daughter while the professor subjected his daughter to inappropriate behaviour.
In her dying words, Pallavi said the professor used to do dirty things with her like groping and inappropriate touches on private parts. She also said she used to be beaten brutally by bottles.
Police have registered a case against the four accused under sections 75, 115 (2), 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 3 of the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Act, 2009.

Pallavi’s Untimely Demise
The deceased’s father, who resides in Sidhbari near Dharamsala, said the significant mental distress was caused by the alleged incidents for his young daughter. He added that the incidents started affected her physical health. His daughter received medical treatments at the state’s different hospitals. Pallavi was transferred to Ludhiana’s Dayanand Medical College and Hospital where she passed away on December 26.
