Nikita Kaul, wife of late Indian Army officer Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal, has joined the army. Lt. Gen. Y K Joshi, commander of the Army’s Northern Command, carried stars on his shoulders at the Officers’ Training Academy in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Major Vibhuti was martyred while fighting terrorists in Pulwama in February 2019.

Nitika Kaul passed out from the Officers Training Academy in Chennai and is now commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army.

On this occasion, Lieutenant Nikita said, ‘I have experienced the same journey that he has gone through. I believe that he is always going to be a part of my life. My journey has just begun. I would like to say thanks to everyone who also showed confidence in me. ‘

Significantly, in the year 2019, on February 14, a CRPF convoy was attacked in Pulwama, in which 40 soldiers were killed. It was only after the terrorist attack that the army carried out an operation to pile up the terrorists in Pinglan village of Pulwama. In this operation, four soldiers were killed due to the firing of terrorists, including Major rank officer Vibhuti Dhoundiyal’s.

When Major Dhoundiyal’s body reached his home, his wife Nikita Kaul said that she was proud of her husband. While saluting her husband, she said that you lied to me that you love me. You love your country more than me and I am proud of it.

On the martyrdom of her husband, Nikita had said that it is my job to follow the path of Vibhu and fulfill his unfulfilled dreams and that is how I want to pay tribute to him. Nikita had been training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai since last year after passing the Short Service Commission (SSC) examination and the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview.

In an interview with news agency ANI in 2019, Nikita Kaul urged every Indian not to be sympathetic but to remain strong and united. She had said goodbye to her husband, ‘I request everyone not to have sympathy but to be very strong because this man ( Major Vibhuti Dhoundiyal) is much bigger than any of us standing here. Let us salute this man. Jai Hind .’ She also seen screaming ‘I love you Vibhu’.
