Shardiya Navratri 2021: The holy festival of Hindus, Shardiya Navratri has started from 7 October. One of the 9 incarnations of Goddess Durga is worshiped every day during this festival. The second day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini who symbolizes singleness and wears white color which signifies purity.

Maa Brahmacharini: Significance
In Vedic texts, Brahmacharini means a woman having sacred religious knowledge. Who wears white clothes and is depicted as walking barefoot. She holds a chanting rosary in her right hand and a kamandal in her left hand. In order to marry Lord Shiva, the young woman Parvati did penance for thousands of years. She lived in the mountains and practiced yoga and penance. After her rigorous penance, Lord Shiva married her. His abode is in the Swadhisthana Chakra. It is believed that Lord Mangal is ruled by Goddess Brahmacharini.

Maa Brahmacharini: Worship Method
Devotees should take a quick bath and wear clean clothes.
The idol of the Goddess should be installed near the Kalash.
Offer paan and betel nut to the goddess.
Offer jasmine flowers.
Light a ghee lamp in front of the idol.
Recite Shri Durga Saptashati Path.
Chant the mantras of Maa Brahmacharini.
Perform aarti and offer bhog in the morning as well as in the evening.
