Thalapathy Vijay: The wait for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to see party supremo Thalapathy Vijay becoming the 23rd Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. This was after hints emerged that the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) would soon extend its support to Vijay to form the next state government.
Thalapathy Vijay-Has The Rollercoaster Drama Ended?
The Tamil Nadu government formation drama is nothing short of a rollercoaster. Earlier, the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and TVK locked horns over the former’s MLA purportedly extending support to the TVK chief.
On the other hand, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) Chief TTV Dhinakaran accused Vijay’s party of submitting a “forged letter’s photocopy” to the Governor. In response, TVK shared a video where the party’s lone MLA-elect Kamaraj was writing his letter supporting the TVK.
Party-wise Drama: The Numbers Game Explained
The Indian National Congress became the first party to support the TVK formally but has asked Vijay not to form any alliances with the BJP or NDA. It is also demanding 2 ministerial berths and a Rajya Sabha seat.
The Communist Party of India offered “conditional support” by supporting the government from outside; no cabinet positions have been demanded. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) would support TVK while remaining outside the cabinet. The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi has demanded the Deputy Chief Minister’s post and a cabinet berth. The Indian Union Muslim League has denied supporting TVK after initially supporting Vijay and TVK. IUML national president Kader Mohideen remarked that his party would stay with the DMK alliance and added that Vijay should approach MK Stalin if he needs support.
