Toll Plaza Price Hike: Travelling through the national highways passing Lucknow, the capital city, will now cost passengers more, as the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to increase toll taxes. Effective from midnight on March 31st, the toll rates on three major highways connecting the city have been revised, impacting around three lakh vehicles, both small and heavy, passing through the district.
Changes in Toll Tax Rates
The Road and Transport Ministry approved the changes in toll taxes, resulting in increased expenses for travelers starting from April 1st. Here’s a breakdown of the new toll rates at various toll plazas:

As you can see, the increase for cars and small commercial vehicles is mostly around ₹5 per trip. However, there is no change in toll charges for cars on Faizabad Highway (Ahmedpur & Rohini) and Bahraich Highway (Ani & Gulalpurwa). Bus and truck fares see a slightly higher increase, ranging from ₹5 to ₹10 per trip.
Important Note:
- These rates are for single trips only. There are also options for monthly passes for frequent travelers.
- The toll prices mentioned above are indicative and may vary slightly depending on the specific vehicle type and axle configuration.
Impact on Passengers
With the toll tax hike, passengers travelling through Lucknow’s national highways will experience increased expenses. The increment, approved by the NHAI and the Ministry, will affect both small and heavy vehicle drivers, adding to their travel costs.
