Not the first time though

This is not the first time something like this has happened. Despite the rarity, news reports have previously informed about people dying while sleeping in gas heaters.
Gas heaters are generally safe, but unserviced or improperly installed gas heaters can cause gas leakage. In the case of a closed room with insufficient fresh air, the levels of toxic carbon monoxide gas in the air can rise, potentially leading to poisoning and death.
