Yati Narsinghanand was also arrested in hate speech case: says police officials

Yati Narsinghanand who organized the Dharma Sansad in Haridwar last month that called for genocide of Muslims, has now been remanded in the hate speech case as well, a police officer told media.

Yati Narsinghanand was among those named in the FIR registered in the hate speech case at the “Dharma Sansad” held in Haridwar last month. Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi, who was Wasim Rizvi before his conversion, was the first to be arrested in this case. About a month after the incident, his arrest was made only after the intervention of the Supreme Court.

It is noteworthy that five former chiefs of the armed forces and more than a hundred prominent people, including bureaucrats, dignitaries, wrote letters to President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi over hate speeches in the Parliament of Religions. The letter also mentioned targeting of other minorities like Christians, Dalits and Sikhs.

It was written in the letter, ‘We are hurt by the content of speeches of Hindu sadhus and other leaders held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand from December 17 to 19 in the Parliament. In this, there was a constant call for the establishment of a Hindu nation and for this it was also said to take up arms if needed and kill the Muslims of India to protect the Hindu religion.’
