Iqra Hasan: Samajwadi Party’s MP from Kairana Iqra Hasan has termed the behaviour of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar during the distribution of appointment letters as disgusting, shameful and a misogny.
What Happened At The Event?
Bihar CM was distributing appointment letters to 1,283 Ayush doctors (Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and Unani). During the event, he laughingly pulled off the face veil of Nusrat Praveen, a Muslim female doctor. The face of the female doctor was exposed to the audience and she was hurriedly rushed off the stage.
DON'T MISS
Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary made an attempt to stop Nitish but the damage was already done. The event was also attended by another Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, Health Minister Mangal Pandey and Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.
The incident took place at ‘Samvad’, the chief minister’s secretariat in Patna.
Iqra Hasan-Reaction Of Political Parties
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) blasted Nitish Kumar’s behaviour terming that either the mental health of the CM has now reached a pitiable condition or he has become a 100% Sanghi (RSS man).
Congress labelled the act “vile”, “disgusting” and “shameful”. It demanded an unconditional apology and even resignation from the Bihar chief minister.
RJD leaders said no woman in the state of Bihar could feel safe if such behaviour by a sitting CM was normalized by the highest elected office. Congress added that the removal of a woman’s religious covering on a public platform sends a chilling message to minorities in the state and the country. It was further commented by Congress that the incident also degrades working women about how little their autonomy is respected by people in power.
According to legal experts, provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) such as Section 354-assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty could be invoked against Nitish Kumar depending on the woman’s complaint and investigation findings.
