Venezuela: Intense clashes, drone sightings and gunfire were reported near the Miraflores Presidential Palace in Venezuela’s Caracas.
This was after Vice President Delcy Rodrguez was sworn in as the interim President of Venezuela. A few days back, US President Donald Trump directed his troops to capture the now-deposed Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
Was the United States involved in this latest series of attacks?
A White House official confirmed that the United States was not involved in any way whatsoever with the recent attacks on Venezuela.
It has been reported that the gunfire may have originated from a possible misunderstanding between the security groups in proximity with the Miraflores Palace.
In another development, Trump has remarked that his country is not at war with the South American nation. Trump added that he will not push for elections in the near future. The US President added Venezuela needs to first get fixed before an election can happen there.
Trump went on to add that the United States will help in rebuilding the country. He also said oil companies from USA could possibly play an important role in rebuilding the energy infrastructure of Venezuela.
Meanwhile, Maduro has been arraigned on charges of cocaine importation and narco-terrorism conspiracies.
