Neeraj Chopra: The Olympic gold medalist from India scripted another historic moment when he won the gold at World Athletics Championship 2023. After an underwhelming first throw, the Indian Javelin star made a sensational comeback in the second throw.
He once again edged past 88 meters to secure his win. He added one more accolade to his name but was still very humble. In the post-event interview, Neeraj stated that he still has a lot to achieve.
Considering the fact that he has already won the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Olympics, and Diamond League titles, this statement shows his hunger and determination. He is already the most successful Indian athlete of all time.
Neeraj Chopra: The Humble Winner
Indian star was humble at the interview and stated that he does not think he is the greatest yet. Moreover, he thinks that he is not even the best Javelin thrower yet. He also talked about the pressure during the competitions.
But the Diamond League winner was confident that he could have brought his best throw in the last attempt if it was needed. He had trained his life to bring out his best in his time of need.
I like to get a big throw early in the competition, but sometimes it may not happen depending on how the body is feeling or the conditions. Both in Bhubaneswar and Eugene, my medal throws arrived quite late. Ultimately, it all comes down to belief." Neeraj Chopra stated.
90 Meter Will Come
Neeraj also commented on having good relations with Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem and said there is no bad blood between them. He is excited to face Nadeem in the Asian Games and is ready to face the pressure. Moreover, he also believes that his 90-meter throw will come sooner rather than later.
"I have been throwing 88m since 2018 so a 90m throw may come anytime. There was a time when I would think about it, but not anymore. I have left it to time and destiny. For me, winning medals is more important than hitting 90m."
