Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: In a day where only 34 overs were bowled because of the rain, England completely dominated Australia. Coming into the third day, England would have liked to continue their rout from the second day.
But both teams and fans were disappointed as rain poured down from the sky. The third-day game resumed at 9:15 IST with just 34 over to bowl. And the English crowd was not disappointed as England annihilated the Aussie's batting.
Australia finished the second day with 116/4 on the scoreboard. They were able to add only 108 runs more on the scoreboard and got all out on 224. In reply, England has to face only 5 overs on the third day and they did that elegantly.
Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: The Comeback?
Is this the comeback of Bazball that we all were waiting for? Because it certainly looks like it. England were in firm control of the match by the end of the third day. They only need 224 runs in 2 days with 10 wickets in hand.
Other than Travis Head who played a valiant innings of 76, none of the Aussie batsmen were able to do anything. Mark Wood once again took charge of the tail and dismissed both Starc and Pat Cummins.
While Woakes was once again the silent hero as he took care of Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey on the third day. Both he and Broad finished with two wickets each with Wood and Moeen Ali taking 2 wickets each.
A Tricky Run Chase Ahead?
Even though the target is small and England has two days to achieve the target, this can be tricky. As the rain might affect the play again and the pitch will also be affected. If it rains like today, England can be in trouble as well.
England needs to win this match to stay alive in this series. Otherwise, this will be humiliation like never before.
