Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: Mitchell Marsh Rescues Australia From Mark Wood’s Fiery Spell On the First Day; An Exciting Contest Ahead!

Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: It is only the first day of the third Ashes test and it is already a barnburner. By the looks of it, this can become the first test in this series to not go for complete five days.

It has been a barnburner of a series so far. Australia might have won both tests, but England was on their tail the whole time. Both matches could have gone anywhere. And it looks like the story for the third match will also be the same.

This Ashes test saw new inclusion in both teams. Mark Wood and Chris Woakes were added to England’s team while Mitchell Marsh was added to Australia’s team. And all three changes worked very well.

Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: Mark Wood Fiery Spell

Stuart Broad might have taken the first wicket of the match, but it was Mark Wood who completely demolished Australia’s batting. He bowled the faster spell in Ashes history with his max speed coming in at 95.6 MPH.

It was a peach of a delivery that got the wicket of Khawaja. Wood would have gotten the wicket of Travis Head and Steve Smith as well but Jonny Bairstow dropped both of them. Wood then took charge of Australia’s tail and annihilated them completely.

Chris Woakes also did amazing and bowled out the top order of Australia. He took crucial wickets of Alex Carey, Travis Head, and Mitchell Marsh. Stuart Broad made Warner and the dangerous Steve Smith his prey.

Mitchell Marsh Comeback

The last test that Mitchell Marsh played for Australia was back in 2019. He would have been under tremendous pressure but dealt with it amazingly. He came in when Australia was 85/4 and was looking for a savior.

Marsh’s 118 runs in 118 deliveries not only took Australia out of their misery but helped them reach a decent total. He also took the wicket of Zack Crawley in his third over only.

By the end of the day, England were on 68/3 with home boys Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow still on crease. England is 195 runs behind Australia as the Aussies were bowled out on 263 in 60.4 overs.
