Australian coach Justin Langer blames IPL for injury concerns

Australian coach Justin Langer has questioned the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the continuous injury in the international cricket. He said that the league also contributed to the injuries of so many cricketers from India and Australia.

The IPL was played in the UAE between September and November amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Many players from India have been injured since the IPL and Australia’s team is also struggling with fitness problems.

“It’s really interesting how many injuries there have been throughout this summer,” said Langer.

“We suffered through it during the white-ball series and (India) through the Test series. “We’ll review this, but I can’t help think that the IPL this year probably wasn’t ideal timing for anyone, certainly for such a big series like this.”

Langer said in a virtual press conference, “The list of injuries this season is long. I think the timing of IPL 2020 was not right. Especially not before such a big series.”

The fourth Test of the series will start in Brisbane from 15 January, and currently the series is stands at 1-1.
