BBL 2022-23: As the side "crumbled" in Saturday's 17-run loss to the Brisbane Heat, the Adelaide Strikers fell apart in incredible circumstances at Adelaide Oval. The Strikers, who were left chasing 155 to win after the Heat were bowled out, were never in it since they lost captain Travis Head for one after just four deliveries.

After that, the pursuit only grew worse since Alex Carey (2), a fellow Test returnee, was unable to gain momentum. However, the horrifying mix-up between Cam Boyce and Colin de Grandhomme—the only recognised batsman left in the game after 18 overs—was what really summed up the horrendously terrible day, with their run out being referred as one of the most clueless ever.
Boyce was the one who first left after possibly running on an overthrow, leaving de Grandhomme and Boyce stranded at the same end. De Grandhomme was found to be the one dismissed by the run-out after umpires reviewed the breaking of the bails. He was then called back.
The Strikers struggled to a 9-137 final score, falling well short of their expectations of finishing in the top four. Interestingly, the Strikers have now lost twice to Brisbane this year, and after falling to the second-to-last Melbourne Stars on Thursday night, this is their second loss in a row.

Even Fox Cricket commentator Mitch Marsh apologised to viewers at home as a result of the debacle. He remarked, “If you were someone who has never watched cricket before [and] you’ve just turned the TV on, I apologise." Veteran batsman Adam Gilchrist who was in the commentary panel as well, said "This is a comedy of errors here. Can you believe it? My goodness.”
