Latest updates on ICC ODI World Cup 2023

The BCCI has not yet decided on the venues for the matches other than the final and also the locations for the warm-up matches. This delay is due to the monsoon season ending at different times in different regions of India, which creates a challenge. Additionally, there are two other reasons for the delay. Firstly, the BCCI needs permission from the Indian government, including getting tax exemption for the tournament, and secondly, visa clearance for the Pakistan team.

During the ICC’s quarterly meetings that took place in Dubai last weekend, it is said that the BCCI gave assurance to the global body that the Indian government will approve the visas for the Pakistan team. Regarding the tax exemption matter, the BCCI had already signed an agreement with the ICC in 2014 when India was selected as the host for three major events including the 2016 T20 World Cup, the 2018 Champions Trophy (later played as 2021 T20 World Cup due to Covid pandemic and moved to UAE and Oman) and the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup.
