Rahkeem Cornwall gets red card

The Barbados Royal faced penalties due to their slow over-rate. As a result, they were restricted to having only three fielders outside the circle during the penultimate over and just ten players for the final over of their bowling innings.

The ongoing edition of the CPL has introduced an innovative red-card rule aimed at addressing the issue of slow over rates. According to this rule, if the fielding side falls behind schedule entering the final over, they are required to play with one fielder less.

Additionally, if they lag behind at the start of the 18th and 19th over, they must have a fifth and sixth fielder inside the circle. All-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall, who had recently scored a brilliant century in just 45 balls, was compelled to leave the field for the last over as a result of this rule.

Fortunately for the Royals, the penalty did not prove too costly, with Guyana scoring 20 runs but losing five wickets in the final over of their innings. While Guyana remains unbeaten in the tournament, the Royals find themselves in a virtually must-win situation. With just three wins in eight games, they currently occupy the fourth position on the points table.
