Cricket Records: Ruturaj Gaikwad doesn’t holds the record of most sixes in an over ! THIS player smashed 8 sixes once

Cricket Records: Ruturaj Gaikwad hit a record-breaking seven sixes in a single over to make history, but he was unable to break the player record for the most sixes hit in a single over. The record was accomplished by Lee Germon of New Zealand, who hit eight sixes in a single over.

Which player holds the record for most sixes in an over?

Against Bert Vance’s over in a first-class match between Wellington and Canterbury in 1990, the former Canterbury wicketkeeper had hammered 8 sixes. Lee Germon scored a whopping 77 runs from Vance in that over, making it still a landmark over. The bowler produced an astounding 22 balls, including an incredible 17 no-balls. As a result of the umpires losing track of the legal deliveries, the over only had five deliveries that were legitimate.

Thus, stating the same, he is still this cricket record-holder and his acheivement looks quiet impossible to be breaken since 32 years have already passed and only Gaikwad has come close to beating that record. Only a similar turnout of events or a bad day of bowler can turn down the tables for Kiwi batsman.

Ruturaj remains the second-highest

Only four players have ever struck six sixes in a single over, with Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa being the first. Yuvraj Singh of India and Kieron Pollard of West Indies both did it against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup, and Jaskaran Malhotra of the USA also hit six sixes in an over.

In contrast, Ruturaj scores 43 runs for Maharashtra against Uttar Pradesh in their Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 quarterfinal encounter after smashing seven sixes—6 6 6 6 6 nb6 6.

In response, they bowled out Karan Sharma’s UP team for 272 runs, earning them a 58-run victory. The 25-year-old remained unbeaten at 220 runs, aiding his team to a massive total of 330 runs at the loss of five wickets.
