Cricket Viral Video: Although Aakash Chopra, a former Indian opener, doesn’t have particularly impressive international stats, his participation to India’s historic tour of Australia in the 2003–2004 season will never be forgotten. Chopra played an important role as Virender Sehwag’s opening partner in the much awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which Australia hosted.

Chopra was included in the playing X1 of the fourth test match of the series. His role was to reduce the impact of the new ball, allowing India’s strong batting line-up to dominate the potent Australian bowling attack. On the first day of the match, the opener had eventful innings as he frustrated the likes of Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie with his performance. He also received two lifelines as he was dropped twice by fielders.

During the 7th over of the match, Chopra was about to return to the pavilion when the Australian pacer bowled a no-ball, saving the opener from dismissal. Moments later, Chopra was given a second lifeline as Simon Katich dropped his catch on the very next ball bowled by Brett Lee. Sehwag couldn’t help but smile at the fortunate turn of events. Meanwhile, Lee was left frustrated as the Indian openers continued their partnership.

In the same match, Chopra played a gritty inning of 45 off 139 balls, while Sehwag scored a quick-fire 72 off 115 deliveries to give India an upper hand against the mighty Australians. Brett Lee bowled 39.3 overs but conceded 201 runs in the 4th and final Test of the series. The Indian batting line-up was led by Sachin Tendulkar’s unbeaten 241 and VVS Laxman’s crucial knock of 178 in the first innings.
