Cricket Viral Video: David Warner, the Australian Test batter, delivered a stunning performance in the 2019 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) by hitting Chris Gayle with three consecutive boundaries while batting right-handed. This unorthodox move came as Warner faced an issue while batting left-handed against Gayle, who is a right-arm off-spinner. The switch in stance was a calculated risk, and it paid off as Warner went on to score an impressive 61* off 36 deliveries.
David Warner smashes 16 off 3
During the game against Sylhet Strikers, Warner switched stances mid-over, leaving Gayle momentarily confused and forcing him to adapt his field positioning after a brief conversation with the umpire.
However, despite the initial confusion, the change in stance proved to be the turning point in Warner’s performance. Approaching his half-century, Warner had been struggling to score off Gayle, receiving two consecutive dot balls in the third over. The switch to batting right-handed allowed him to break the limitations he faced while batting left-handed and take advantage of the full toss that Gayle delivered in his next over. Warner played a paddle-sweep through square leg past the fielder for four, followed by a six straight down the ground.

To the final ball of the over, Warner executed a shot that could be called a “reverse-reverse.” He started in a right-handed stance, but as the ball approached, he moved back almost into a left-handed stance and played the ball behind square. Despite the ball appearing to ricochet off the keeper and lose speed, a misfield in the inner ring resulted in Warner’s third boundary in a row. With 16 runs off the final three balls of the over, Warner demonstrated that he is a formidable opponent, even when batting on his weaker side.
