Cricket Viral Video: Sourav Ganguly has often been credited for changing Indian cricket in the early 2000s. Many believe that he was the one who introduced the concept of an aggressive approach to the Men in Blue. However, in 2006, he once played a knock that is probably the closest to every Indian cricket fan as he came to bat even after getting retired hurt earlier.

Sourav was going through a rough phase of his career as he had already lost his position of captain to Rahul Dravid. He kept his focus on regaining his batting skills so that he could make a proper comeback.

Sourav Ganguly’s heroic batting

During the match against Sri Lanka, India had to chase a modest target of 259 runs. However, on the third ball of the second over, when Ganguly faced Farvez Maharoof, he received a painful delivery that hit his ribs. Even though he scored a single, he appeared visibly uncomfortable and in pain.

Ganguly retired hurt after feeling pain from an unknown injury. Soon after, Kartik lost his wicket and Dada had to return as India were 110/2. He soon hit a six but Sehwag was then run out soon. He then partnered with Yuvraj, adding 145 runs for the third wicket. Despite being in pain, Ganguly played a crucial role in stabilizing the innings while Singh continued scoring runs.

Sourav Ganguly eventually scored 58* off 74 balls, while Yuvraj scored 95* from 83 balls, and gave India an easy victory as they chased down the target in just 41 overs. The match continues to remain a memorable one for every cricket fan.
