Cricket Viral Video: Over the years, cricket has seen its fair share of power-hitting batsmen who have etched some great records. Nevertheless, the game has undergone notable transformations at specific milestones. In the past, achieving a total of 350 runs in a One Day International (ODI) match was regarded as a remarkable achievement.
However, the Australian team showed that scoring 400 runs was not only attainable but also represented a notable breakthrough in the game's evolution. In the 5th ODI between Australia and South Africa, Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds achieved another extraordinary milestone by amassing 21 runs off a single official delivery.
In the game of cricket, a maximum of 6 runs can typically be scored off a single legitimate delivery. Nevertheless, in a rather unusual turn of events, during a match against South Africa, the Australian team had already notched a higher score. It was at this point that South African bowler Roger Telemachus had to deliver five additional balls to complete a legal over, as the game had already been pushed to its limits. What happened next was a merciless display by the Australian batsmen, who managed to score 21 runs off this unexpected turn of events.
The sequence of deliveries unfolded as follows: 4 no-balls, 1 no-ball, 4 no-balls, 6 no-balls, and then a regular delivery which yielded 2 runs. Ricky Ponting brilliantly struck a four off one of the no-balls, while Andrew Symonds blasted a six off another no-ball, ultimately taking Australia's total score to a remarkable 400 runs.
