Cricket Viral Video: There have been very few instances of bowlers taking wickets on the first ball of their career. However, this feat has been achieved by an Indian bowler once too. Nilesh Kulkarni was a famous Indian cricketer who made history by becoming the first Indian to take a wicket with his very first delivery in a particular format. He achieved this incredible feat during a Test match played between India and Sri Lanka. This made him the only Indian player to earn this achievement in the longest version of the game.

Historic delivery by Nilesh Kulkarni

India played Sri Lanka in the opening Test of their tour of the island nation in August 1997. In th game, Sachin Tendulkar, the captain of the Indian side, chose to bat first after winning the toss. In a thrilling contest, Mahela Jayawardene and Nilesh Kulkarni made their official debuts.

India batted first and declared their innings at a massive score of 537 runs for 8 wickets. The team was able to achieve this remarkable score due to outstanding performances from Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sachin Tendulkar, and Mohammad Azharuddin, who all scored centuries.

When Sri Lanka came out to bat, they had made 39 runs without losing any wickets when Nilesh Kulkarni came on to bowl. The left-arm spinner made an immediate impact and claimed a wicket with his very first delivery. Marvan Atapattu was caught behind by Nayan Mongia after scoring 26 runs, and Kulkarni became the first Indian player to achieve this feat in that format of the game.

After Marvan Atapattu's wicket, the Sri Lankan batsmen Sanath Jayasuriya and Roshan Mahanama took control of the match, forming a partnership of 576 runs that would go down in history as a record for the second wicket in Test cricket. Jayasuriya played exceptionally well and scored a massive 340 runs, while Mahanama also made an impressive 225 runs. With these two performances, Sri Lanka was able to set a new world record for the highest score in Test cricket with 952 runs for 6 wickets before declaring their innings.
