Nicknamed the 'Hitman,' Rohit Sharma achieved the highest individual score in ODIs, surpassing Virender Sehwag's 219. In 2014, during Sri Lanka's tour of India, the fourth ODI took place at Eden Gardens. India batted first and set a record score of 404 runs. During this match, Rohit Sharma played a historic inning, amassing 264 runs off 173 balls.

In this extraordinary innings, Rohit struck 33 fours and 9 sixes, notching the highest individual score in ODI history. To this day, Rohit's record remains unbroken. Rohit holds the unique distinction of being the only batter with three double centuries in ODI cricket.

In their pursuit of India's target, the Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 251 runs. Angelo Mathews, the team captain, was the top scorer with 75 runs, while Lahiru Thirimane contributed 59 runs. India's bowlers excelled in this match, with Dhawal Kulkarni taking 4 wickets for 34 runs in 10 overs, while Umesh Yadav and Stuart Binny each claimed 2 wickets.
