Cricket Viral Video: Since he started playing as an opener in 2013, India’s all-format captain Rohit Sharma has established himself as one of the top opening batters in the world. In T20I cricket, he holds several big records. One such record came in 2017 when he struck the joint-fastest T20I century ever against Sri Lanka.
Rohit Sharma’s blistering inning
In the second T20I match of the three-match series against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma was in the mood for destruction. India had won the previous match by a huge margin of 93 runs and had the opportunity to seal the series in the second match itself. Rohit seemed to take the responsibility of winning the match on himself alone.
With Virat Kohli rested and MS Dhoni having given up the captaincy, Rohit was leading the Indian cricket team in the series and he led from the front. Sri Lankan skipper Thisara Perera won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, which was known for being a good chasing ground. However, in the next hour and a half, Rohit and his opening partner KL Rahul put up an astounding performance that left Sri Lanka in tatters.
The duo put up a magnificent 165-run partnership in just 12.4 overs before Rahul was dismissed 11 runs short of his century. Rohit, however, did not disappoint and equaled David Miller’s record of the fastest T20I century in just 35 balls. He eventually got out for 118 off 43 but not before entertaining the crowd with his 12 fours and 10 sixes, making 108 runs off just boundaries.

Nevertheless, Sri Lanka were unable to chase the total of 260, crumbling for just 172. The hosts won the match by 88 runs and won the series.
