Though, there have been countless such matches, but, his knock against Australia during 2016 T20 World Cup in Mohali always stands out as one of the best. While the defeat looked certain for Men in Blue, he got to his prime and unleashed a furious attack and also won the match for India.
Virat Kohli’s Epic Knock
During a crucial group game in a cricket tournament, India had to chase a score of 161 to qualify for the semi-finals. However, they were in trouble as they had lost three wickets and had only scored 49 runs in the first eight overs. Virat Kohli stepped up to take charge of the situation, partnering with Yuvraj Singh in a 45-run stand that lasted for 38 balls. When Yuvraj got out in the 14th over, India’s score was 94/4.
But then, Kohli and Dhoni took over and left Australian captain Steve Smith bewildered. The duo worked together to chase down the target swiftly. Kohli played an outstanding inning, hitting 2 sixes and 9 fours that were all stunning to watch. The partnership between Kohli and Dhoni lasted for 31 balls and resulted in a total of 67 runs being added to the score, ultimately leading to a successful chase.
At a moment, the required run rate went 13, and everything relied on Kohli’s shoulder. He then hit a couple of boundaries and six in the next over. Just when people were losing hopes, he smashed four boundaries in an single over, eventually, chasing down the target with 5 balls to spare.

For his exceptional performance in scoring 273 runs in just five matches with an impressive average of 136.50 and a strike rate of 146.77, Virat Kohli was awarded the Man of the Tournament title.
