Cricket Viral Video: In a major cricket event, the Fairbreak Invitational T20 2023, Dane van Niekerk returned after being away from professional cricket due to injuries. Unfortunately, she was dismissed for a duck by her wife Marizanne Kapp. Her last international cricket game was in September 2021 during South Africa's tour of the West Indies. Although she played in the 2021/22 Women's Big Bash League for Adelaide Strikers and the 2022 Women's Hundred for Oval Invincibles, she has not played much since then.

Dismissed on duck by wife Marizanne Kapp

She got a chance to play cricket before the 2023 T20 World Cup in South Africa, first for the South Africa Emerging Players when Zimbabwe toured, and then a few matches for South Western Districts. However, she missed out on being selected for the T20 World Cup squad after falling 18 seconds short of Cricket South Africa's required fitness test cutoff. She retired from international cricket the following month, which was a bold decision considering her impressive record.

Interestingly, her first match after returning to professional cricket was against her wife, who got out on the first ball. This happened during the Fairbreak Invitational T20 tournament opener held at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong, where Falcons scored 150-6. During the Tornadoes' batting, she opened with Sterre Kalis from the Netherlands, and Kapp bowled the first over. Unfortunately, the first ball hit her on the finger.

During the game, on the second ball, van Niekerk hit an edge which went towards the wicketkeeper Nannapat Koncharoenkai. Koncharoenkai appealed for the wicket, and the umpire Jacqueline Williams raised her finger, which led to van Niekerk walking off the field. However, her wife Marizanne Kapp didn't celebrate the dismissal and remained quiet.

Marizanne Kapp and Dane van Niekerk, both South African all-rounders, got married in July 2018, making them the second same-sex couple from international cricket teams to tie the knot. The first couple was Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu from New Zealand, who got married a year earlier in 2017.
