Cristiano Ronaldo: On Tuesday in Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo was formally introduced as an Al Nassr player. He signed a hefty 200 million euro contract that will keep him on the field through 2025. Ronaldo, a five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, appeared delighted at the event despite many believing that it marked the end of his professional football career.

What did Cristiano Ronaldo say?

But during the press conference, Ronaldo stumbled over his words on his new, lucrative contract. The former Manchester United footballer said “South Africa” rather than “Saudi Arabia.” The blunder was made by 37-year-old Ronaldo, who has spent his entire career playing in Europe, while he was addressing the offers that he claimed poured in after leaving Manchester United.

While, speaking to media, Ronaldo said “It’s not the end of my career to come to South Africa.” On Tuesday, everyone was talking about Ronaldo’s debut for the club. The ceremony was eagerly watched by CR7 fans all over the world since it was live aired on YouTube. Social media users quickly noticed the error as a result. An online video clip of that specific section of Ronaldo’s news conference has gone viral.

Al Nassr’s Mrsool Park, which seats 25,000 people, erupted in applause and pyrotechnics when Ronaldo onto the field wearing their yellow and blue uniform. He also said, “Many clubs tried to sign me but I gave my word to this club, for the opportunity to have not only football but (to be) part of this amazing country. And for me it was a challenge.”

When Ronaldo landed at his new club Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, he referred to himself as a “unique player” and claimed that his career was not finished. “I’m a unique player. It’s good to come here, I broke all the records there (in Europe) and I want to break a few records here.”
