CSK vs RR IPL 2023: Rajasthan Royals BEAT Chennai Super Kings at HOME by 3 Runs in last-ball thriller

CSK vs RR IPL 2023: In the 17th match of IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals has defeated Chennai Super Kings by a margin of three runs. Earlier, MSD won the toss and opted to field first at the home ground. With Buttler, Ashwin, and Hetmyer’s knocks, Rajasthan managed to post 175 runs in 20 overs. In response, CSK also didn’t start much great initially and fumbled throughout. 40 runs were required in the last two overs, Dhoni and Jadeja fought till the end but couldn’t take their team across the boundary line. Sandeep Sharma bowled the last over in which 21 runs were required. This is the first victory of RR at Chepauk since 2008.

MSD and Jadeja’s inning in vain

Coming to chase the target of 176, CSK had a similar start to that of RR. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for a score of 8 runs in 10 balls. Regular fall of wickets ensured that the momentum stayed with visitors for most of the time. Opener Devon Conway looked in rhythm but got dismissed just right after he completed his half-century, scoring 50 off 38 balls.

Ajinkya Rahane played a quick-fire cameo scoring 31 runs off 19 balls. However, no other batter could capitalise from thereon. Shivam Dube scored 8, Moeen Ali scored 7, and Ambati Rayudu scored 1. However, skipper Dhoni then took the matter into his hands with Jadeja. Latter scored a crucial 25* runs from 15 balls whereas Thala Dhoni scored 32* off 17 balls but failed to win the match. Ashwin and Chahal picked a couple of wickets, while Adam Zampa and Sandeep Sharma grabbed a wicket each as well.

Jos leads the charge yet again

Earlier, MS Dhoni-led CSK won the toss and opted to field first. Jos Buttler was the highest scorer once again for the team with a score of 52 runs off 36 balls. The start wasn’t as expected as they lost opener Jaiswal (10 off 8) cheaply. Skipper Sanju was also bowled by Jadeja for a duck in two balls. Ashwin played a crucial knock of 30 runs from 22 balls and strengthened RR’s inning.

Hetmyer played a quickfire knock in the end with a score of 30 runs in 18 balls, making some quick and necessary runs in the end. Team scored 57 runs in the powerplay and ended up scoring 175/8 in 20 overs. Jadeja, Deshpande, and Akash Singh grabbed a couple of wickets while Moeen Ali picked a wicket as well.
