However, what unfolded during the fourth over of the RR innings was far from ordinary, catching the attention of the spectators. Notably, the incident revolved around none other than the legendary figure himself – MSD.
Dhoni review system goes wrong
During that eventful over, Maheesh Theekshana delivered a shortish length delivery targeting the stumps on the third ball. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was batting impressively at 31 off 12 balls, attempted a sweep shot but failed to make contact with the ball entirely. Theekshana, along with Dhoni, swiftly appealed for an LBW (Leg Before Wicket) decision, but to their disappointment, the umpire remained unmoved and refrained from raising his finger.
As Theekshana prepared to consult Dhoni regarding the decision to take a review, Dhoni swiftly signaled for the T, a gesture he typically makes when he possesses unwavering confidence. However, the turn of events didn’t favor him this time, as the replay indicated that the ball had pitched outside the leg stump. While Jaiswal rejoiced at the failure of the ‘Dhoni Review System,’ the captain with two World Cup victories under his belt, along with Theekshana, were left stunned by the outcome.
