John Cena is all set to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship again in Nights of Champions on June 29, Sunday. In an action-packed Monday Night RAW, WWE announced John Cena will defend his title against CM Punk at the 11th Night of Champions in Riyadh.
All the WWE stars from RAW and SmackDown will feature in the WWE PLE, and the King of the Ring tournament and Queen of the Ring tournaments’ final will also take place in the Night of Champions PLE.
CM Punk’s rivalry against John Cena
CM Punk and John Cena’s rivarly is one of the most intense and entertaining rivarlires in WWE history. Punk and Cena both faced each other in 2009 for a single’s match, Cena defeated Punk in their first meeting in a WWE Monday Night RAW episode.
After two years, Punk finally defeated Cena via disqualification but is yet to beat him officially in a single’s match. In an episode of RAW in 2011, Punk and Cena were facing each other again but this time Punk defeated Cena officially for the first time in WWE.
After that Cena and Punk was include in many matches like Elimination Chamber, 12-man tag team match, tag team and more. A big turn in their rivarly came in the 2011 Money in the Bank pay-per-view, where Punk defeated Cena and became the new WWE champion.
Punk and Cena’s last meet in a singles match was in 2013, where Cena beat Punk for the number one contender for WWE Heavyweight championship, and now, after 12 years, both will battle out against each other in the WWE ring.
Ron Killings might replace CM Punk
A speculation is claiming that with Punk’s previous infamous comments on Saudi Arabia, it will be a chance that Punk will not be available for the event and if this misfortune happens, then WWE might replace Punk with Ron Killings.
Many superstars wants to work with Cena on his farewell tour but currently the right choice will be Ron Killings aka R-Truth as both Cena and Ron inlcuded in a storyline in last Money in the Bank PLE.
