Airee’s stunning onslaught unfolded during Nepal’s clash against Qatar in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman.
Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee Creates History with Six Sixes in T20 International
Airee’s onslaught came in the final over of Nepal’s innings, facing off against Qatar’s Kamran Khan. Starting the over at 28 off 15 balls, Airee unleashed a barrage of sixes, propelling his score to an impressive 64 runs from just 21 deliveries. This incredible display of power-hitting not only showcased Airee’s talent but also played a pivotal role in driving Nepal’s total to a formidable 210 for 7.
With this achievement, Airee joins the elite company of India’s Yuvraj Singh and West Indies’ Kieron Pollard, who had previously achieved this milestone in T20 internationals. The feat was first accomplished by Yuvraj Singh during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 against England.
While this was Airee’s first instance of hitting six sixes in an over in international T20 cricket, he had showcased glimpses of his explosive batting prowess before. In September 2023, during the Asian Games in Hangzhou, Airee blazed his way to a fifty off just ten balls against Mongolia. In a remarkable display, he dispatched six consecutive legal deliveries for sixes, leaving spectators in awe of his batting prowess.
Airee’s remarkable achievement adds another chapter to the annals of cricketing history, solidifying his reputation as one of Nepal’s most dynamic cricketers on the international stage.
