Eight People Booked for Attacking Cricketer Prithvi Shaw’s Friend’s Car in Mumbai, Complaint filed

Prithvi Shaw: The Oshiwara police in Mumbai have registered a case against eight people for attacking cricketer Prithvi Shaw’s friend’s car outside a five-star hotel. The incident occurred when Prithvi Shaw and his friend went to a five-star hotel in Santacruz for dinner. The accused, who insisted on taking selfies with Shaw, vandalized Prithvi’s friend’s BMW car when they were asked to leave the hotel. The accused followed the car, threatened to file false charges, and attacked it with baseball bats.

The Case and Police Action

The Oshiwara Police have booked the eight accused under several sections of the Indian Penal Code for unlawful assembly and using weapons for offense. After the incident, the complainant, Ashish Surendra Yadav, came to the Oshiwara Police Station and filed a case. The police registered the case and started looking for the accused. The hotel staff provided the police with the names and contact numbers of people who had taken selfies with Shaw. Two people, Sana alias Sapna Gill and Shobhit Thakur, were identified.

The Incident and Its Details

Shaw obliged two people with selfies, but the same group returned and asked for selfies with the other accused. When they insisted, Prithvi’s friend called the hotel manager and complained. The accused were asked to leave, which angered them. When Shaw and his friend came out of the hotel after eating, some people were standing outside with baseball bats. Prithvi’s friend’s car was vandalized as the accused used baseball bats to smash the front and rear windows of the vehicle.

Prithvi Shaw’s Recent Performances

Prithvi Shaw has been on a break from competitive cricket after India’s home series against New Zealand. He was recalled to the T20i team for a 3-match series against the BlackCaps at home in January, but he did not get an opportunity in the playing XI. Shaw has been in sensational form in the domestic circuit. He hit 595 runs, including a hundred, in 6 matches in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season. Shaw broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record for the highest total by a Mumbai batter in Ranji Trophy.

The Lawyer’s Allegation

Ali Kashif Khan, the lawyer of Sana alias Sapna Gill, alleged that Sapna was assaulted by Prithvi Shaw. According to the lawyer, the stick was seen in Prithvi’s hand, and Prithvi’s friends assaulted the group first. Sapna is currently at the Oshiwara police station, but the police are not allowing her to go for medical treatment.

The incident is a sad reminder of the dangers of celebrity culture and the intrusion it causes. It highlights the need for stricter laws to prevent the abuse of the right to privacy and personal safety.
