FIFA World Cup 2022: A Wales football fan lost his life at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where he had went to cheer for his country. Kevin Davies passed away on Friday after travelling to Qatar with his family and friends to watch the World Cup. He was in Doha when he passed away.

At the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, Wales faced Iran in their second Group B matchup. Wayne Hennessey’s dismissal in the 86th minute, followed by two goals from Iran in stoppage time, did not go as planned for the Gareth Bale-led team. The Asian team put up a strong performance that eventually gave them a stunning victory.

How did Kevin Davies die?

He passed away naturally and wasn’t present when Wales lost to Iran at the Ahmad bin Ali stadium in Al Rayyan.

Friday was the day that Kevin’s incident occurred. The Football Association of Wales sent a tweet to the fan’s friends and family expressing its condolences: “Mae CBDC yn cydymdeimlo efo teulu a ffrindiau Kevin Davies. Our deepest condolences from everyone at the Football Association of Wales. Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family and friends at this sad time. The FAW is in contact with Kevin’s family to help in whatever way we can.”

Authorities reach out to the fan’s family

Kevin’s family has spoken with FA Wales, who committed to providing support in any way they can. The Welsh association football and futsal federation made a wonderful gesture. Along with his friends and family, the Welsh fan embassy reached out and expressed their condolences. “Unfortunately we have lost one of the Red wall yesterday in Qatar, our sincere condolences go out to his son here in Doha and his family back in Wales..May he rest in peace,” their tweet read.

With assistance from the Football Supporters’ Association Cymru, the UK consular is currently supporting the family. The footballing community has been stunned by the tragic off-field incident. Wales’ World Cup campaign may be over following their 2-0 loss to Iran, which came after they drew their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 1-1 against the USA. Defeating group favourites England in their final game is the only way they can qualify further. England and Wales will square off on November 29 in the group’s final match.
