FIFA World Cup 2022: "Pray to God" Champion Boxer threatens Lionel Messi for this 'disrespectful' action

FIFA World Cup 2022: An energetic Lionel Messi stepped up to the challenge with a superb strike in the 64th minute of the Group C match on Saturday, knowing that Argentina needed a victory over Mexico to stay in the running for the Round of 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Argentina's performance in the first half was generally unimpressive, so it took a feat of magic from Messi. However, a video got viral from locker room which has angered the Mexico fans.

Messi revived Argentina yet again

Argentina was on the verge of elimination after losing to Saudi Arabia in their opening Group C game. They knew that another loss would put an end to their chances of going ahead in the tournament. However, the momentum of the match switched towards Argentina quickly though.

Three minutes from time, Enzo Fernandez scored a thunderous second goal for Argentina after Messi had already scored goal from 20 yards. These two goals were sufficient for Argentina to defeat Mexico 2-0.

Argentina celebrated their victory in locker room

Argentina's camp was in a good mood following such a successful victory. A happy Messi can be seen shouting with joy in a video of their dressing room celebration that has gone viral on social media. He had a green shirt lying at his feet, which many Twitter users identified as the Mexico jersey.

Boxing Champion Canelo Alvarez threatens Messi

Several Mexico supporters, notably triple world boxing champion Canelo Alvarez, were outraged by this and claimed that Messi was disrespecting the Mexico shirt.

Taking to Twitter, Alvarez wrote in Spanish, “Did you see Messi cleaning the floor with out shirt and flag.” In the next tweet, he wrote, “He'd better pray to god that I don't find him. Just as I respect Argentina, you have to respect Mexico!! I'm not talking about the country (Argentina) I'm talking about Messi."

The tweets have become viral now but there is no response from Messi as of now. To ensure a spot in the knockout rounds, Argentina still needs to defeat Poland in their final group match.
